The CVCET History
The Castle Vale Community Environmental Trust (CVCET) was formally established in January 2000. Its roots can be traced back to the Nature Centre that was run from the Fort. However, the project has only really established itself since April 2000 following the appointment of the Project Manager.
Originally set up as a partnership between three residents groups in Castle Vale the CVCET is becoming recognised as an ‘umbrella’ organisation for all environmental initiatives. The Stables, Allotments and the now defunct Nature Centre originated the trust. In addition to these core groups, the CVCET also includes a role for schools, the Tenants and Resident Alliance (TRA), Birmingham City Council, Wildlife Trust and Groundwork. The CVCET is now a registered company by guarantee.
