You are...
Wrong!
Forget Terry Towels and pins! Modern washable nappies are shaped, have poppers or Velcro©-type fastenings and the liners can be flushed away. Many parents today are choosing to use washable nappies instead of disposables.
Why?
Washable nappies are much better for the environment than disposable nappies but they also offer other benefits.
Washable nappies
- are easy to use
- produce little rubbish
- use natural materials
- are safer for your baby
- can help to potty train your baby sooner
- can be washed in a domestic washing machine at 60 oC
- are more convenient than you might think!
Also, washable nappies can cost much less than disposables, saving you up to £400 over the ‘nappy life’ of your baby. What’s more, because the nappies are reusable, they can be used on a second child, making the savings even greater!
Disposable nappies
- Make up about half of your weekly rubbish
- are classed as hazardous waste
- cannot be recycled
- take 500 years to break down
- contain potentially dangerous chemicals
- are expensive
