Ongoing projects
These are long term or rolling projects.
Eco Schools
Working with all the schools in the area we are promoting environmental awareness which links in with the schools curriculum.
Eco Schools scheme is run by the environmental organisation EnCams which gives the prestigious Green Flag Award to schools that meet their green criteria.
The schools in Castle Vale have been awarded Eco School status in the past but many have expired. We are assisting the schools to regain their awards and raise the profile of the whole community.

CVCET Better Learning Environments
The Better Learning Environments Initiative was set up in 2001 working with the estate’s five mainstream schools.
Here the school gardening clubs decide how they can improve their school grounds to use in curricula studies whilst enhancing the area.
The Trust has already made an impact in the schools and brought colour and enthusiasm amongst students. In commemoration the Queen’s Jubilee we offered the schools an award of £500 each to design and create new features in their school gardens.
Such projects included a market Garden, a Victorian Herb Garden and Kitchen Garden plot, a nursery rhyme themed garden and a new wildlife pond. The children are now reaping the fruits of their labours
The Environmental Trust strives towards creating an educational resource, not just in the schools but within the community as a whole.
